Brett A. Gilman handles family law matters, including but not limited to dissolution of marriage or partnership, custody, support, division of assets/debts, paternity, hearing and trial setting, protective and restraining (DV) orders, guardianships and conservatorships.

These are extremely difficult and emotional issues and times for clients. Mr. Gilman listens to the client. He is compassionate and understanding of the situation, but at the same time will keep the client focused on moving forward to complete the process.



Mr. Gilman takes the time to carefully explain the law regarding custody, support, division of assets/debts, and other family law related issues. He explains the process involved providing an understanding to the client as to what is happening and to minimize surprises. Mr. Gilman makes it a point to ’educate’ his clients and answer all their questions. He wants the client to be able to make educated decisions for their future.

Much of family law is set up so two reasonable parties and two reasonable attorneys can resolve all issues without the need of the court, while still protecting the interests of both parties. This is generally the preferred way to handle family law cases. However, if court and litigation is needed, Mr. Gilman has over twenty years of litigation experience and can handle all issues.
